The interchange of Tehran-Karaj Freeway involved specific design complexities. This junction is considered as a symbol of Tehran’s Western Entrance. The maximum span length of this junction is 96 m and the maximum height of its deck is 25 meters, and, as compared with other bridges in Iran, is very specially designed.
For this junction, about 30,000 Square meters of formwork was provided.
Due to the special design of the bridge which included 90 degree arcs at certain points, the technical staff at Boozarjomehr Industrial Group combined modular forms with special forms to facilitate the design and construction of the required formwork. Due to the special arcs and diverse heights involved, triangular (bridge) scaffolds were proposed for this project. Thus, the problem of difference in heights was solved and assembly/dismantling operations were accelerated.
